put puttering out

so quickly we come here
so quickly we go
what progress is this
magnificent machines with line laborers
without craft
sneaking painting like jewels at night
but even those thieves are few
cars put put
wars wander
country to country. food poison,
water poison. looks to me like one
of those civilizations who've died
out from ignorance- planting too
many potatoes and blaming it on god-
aiming for progress but only tasting
its illusion for a short while
and put puttering out
